“Poet Gone Wild: More Matters of Love and Death by Wren is a collection of over fifty poems and three “spirit messages” on Awareness, Oneness, and Healing. Exploring themes of daily life such as loving, loss, fear, and relationships, the rhythmical and rhyming compositions provide the reader with a reflective experience that is both gentle in touch and penetrating in depth. Wren describes Poet Gone Wild as a continuation of the first collection. Not having read it, I can only say that this collection stands on its own. The poems are a handy length, easy to consume in snack-size or full meal portions, and while there are threads that run throughout, each carries its own slant. Taken as a whole, the collection reminds me of the luminosity of a watercolor painting where bits of the underlayment shine through.

“I enjoyed reading Poet Gone Wild. Wren’s use of rhyme and rhythm is pleasantly lilting. While deceptively simple, the images the poems produce are thought-provoking without being heavy-handed or moralizing. My favorite is titled “Customer Service.” A grocery checkout clerk asks if you found everything and sends you to customer service when you list such non-grocery items you were looking for as “strawberry heart repair, peace in a can, and corrective glasses to heal old wounds.” And who should be at customer service to help? God, the employee of the year, who offers some encouraging words. Wren’s light-hearted approach to serious matters will appeal to many readers and makes this collection a perfect gift for friends and family who may just need a little prod toward healing and love.”
